A literature review of perishable medical resource management

Frontiers of Engineering Management   Pages 710-726 doi: 10.1007/s42524-023-0278-9

Abstract: In recent decades, healthcare providers have faced mounting pressure to effectively manage highly perishable and limited medical resources. This article offers a comprehensive review of supply chain management pertaining to such resources, which include transplantable organs and healthcare products. The review encompasses 93 publications from 1990 to 2022, illustrating a discernible upward trajectory in annual publications. The surveyed literature is categorized into three levels: Strategic, tactical, and operational. Key problem attributes and methodologies are analyzed through the assessment of pertinent publications for each problem level. Furthermore, research on service innovation, decision analytics, and supply chain resilience elucidates potential areas for future research.

State-of-the-art of intelligent minimally invasive surgical robots

Masakatsu G. Fujie, Bo Zhang

Frontiers of Medicine 2020, Volume 14, Issue 4,   Pages 404-416 doi: 10.1007/s11684-020-0743-3

Abstract: A number of developed countries are rapidly turning into super-aged societies. Consequently, the demand for reduced surgical invasiveness and enhanced efficiency in the medical field has increased due to the need to reduce the physical burden on older patients and shorten their recovery period. Intelligent surgical robot systems offer high precision, high safety, and reduced invasiveness. This paper presents a review of current intelligent surgical robot systems. The history of robots and three types of intelligent surgical robots are discussed. The problems with current surgical robot systems are then analyzed. Several aspects that should be considered in designing new surgical systems are discussed in detail. The paper ends with a summary of the work and a discussion of future prospects for surgical robot development.

Development Strategy of Phosphate Rock in China Under Global Allocation of Resources

Cui Rongguo , Zhang Yanfei , Guo Juan , Guo Zhenhua , Xiao Yuping

Strategic Study of CAE 2019, Volume 21, Issue 1,   Pages 128-132 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2019.01.018

Abstract:

In this paper, the sigmoid growth curve model is adopted to predict the future demand for phosphate rock resources in China under high- and low-demand scenarios. Data shows that the total demand for phosphate rocks in China will reach approximately 2.2-2.7 billion tons between 2017 and 2050. This demand can be met by domestic supply. At the same time, the relation between the status quo and demand of the phosphate rock resource is analyzed according to its current production status. Analysis shows that China’s phosphorus resources have a serious overcapacity. With 4.7% of the world’s phosphorus reserves, China is now supplying phosphorus rocks to more than 50% of the global market. The development intensity of China’s phosphorus rocks is too high. In this way, China’s phosphorus rock resources will become short after 2050. To guarantee a sustainable supply of China’s phosphate rock resources in future and thus ensure food security, China should exercise strict control over domestic production capacity and limit production, and make the best of the global allocation of resources to develop foreign resources.
